Why most lick mats get abandoned
One texture, one job, ignored by week two
The standard lick mat is a flat square with a single pattern moulded into it. It works the first few times and then stops being interesting, because there is nothing left to discover — and it only ever solved one problem anyway.
The Big Spread puts four different surfaces in one tray. Kibble goes in the maze for a dog that eats too fast, something spreadable goes in the honeycomb for an anxious half-hour, the nub zone changes the texture when they tire of the others, and the bowl lifts out for water or wet food. One thing on the floor instead of three.

Cats tend to use the honeycomb and bowl zones most; dogs get the most out of the maze and honeycomb. The base grips tile, laminate and sealed wood well, but it is not a suction mount — a really determined pusher may still shift it.

Does the bowl insert come out?
Yes, it lifts straight out for filling, emptying, and washing separately from the tray.
Will it stay put on my floor?
The base has a non-slip silicone grip that holds well on tile, laminate, and sealed wood. It isn't a suction mount, so very determined pushers may shift it slightly on some surfaces.
Can I put it in the freezer?
Yes. Freezing a filled honeycomb zone extends licking time significantly, especially useful on hot days.
How do I clean it?
Dishwasher safe (top rack), or hand wash with warm soapy water. The removable bowl makes cleaning each zone easier.
