Our Story: From the Pennines to the South Coast 🐾
The Big Pet Shop was born from a simple need: keeping our dogs, Milly and Bella, safe during dark winter walks. While our family has deep roots in the beautiful coastal paths of Dorset, The Big Pet Shop Ltd is a proud Northern-based independent business, with our Head Office located right here in Bacup, Lancashire.
The Heart of the Shop Hi, I’m Joseph. Whether we are walking the rugged trails of the West Pennine Moors or the forest paths of the South, our mission remains the same: ensuring every British pet owner can walk with confidence, regardless of the weather.
I spent a fortune at big multi-national stores on generic "flashing" collars that fell apart after one rainy walk. I knew there had to be a better way. That’s why I created a range of gear—including the Glow Bright™ Harness—that is tested by real dog owners in real British conditions.
Tested by Bella & Milly Every Glow Bright™ Harness we sell is "field-tested" across the UK. If it can’t handle a rainy stroll through the Lancashire hills with Milly or a sprint through the New Forest with Bella, we don't sell it.
When you order from us, you aren't just a "customer" on a spreadsheet. You’re a fellow dog lover. Every order is managed from our Lancashire HQ (with Milly and Bella usually watching from their beds!) to ensure it meets our family standards before it makes its way to you.

Meet Milly Milly is the soulful heart of our home. As a senior girl, she is the reason we prioritize comfort. Whether she's enjoying the fresh air of the Lancashire countryside or a gentle stroll on the coast, Milly is our "Chief Comfort Officer." If a harness isn't soft enough for her to nap in after a walk, it doesn't make the cut.
Meet Bella If Milly is the heart, Bella is the high-energy engine! She is our tireless lead product tester and the star of our videos. Whether she’s sprinting through the muddy trails of the North West or splashing through South Coast puddles, Bella puts every Glow Bright™ Harness through its paces. She’s the reason our gear is 100% weatherproof and rugged.

A Message from Joseph Hi, I’m Joseph, the founder of The Big Pet Shop. My journey into pet safety started because I’m a dog dad first and a business owner second. Operating from our base in Bacup, I spend a huge part of my life outdoors with Milly and Bella. I wanted to create a shop that reflected the genuine care and quality I look for when buying gear for my own girls.
When you shop with us, you're getting a product that I’ve personally vetted. I’m involved in every step—from testing designs to ensuring your order is handled correctly at our UK HQ. My goal is to make sure every customer (and every pup!) feels like part of the family. Thank you for supporting a small, independent UK business.
